Call for experts for InterAcademy Partnership COVID-19 Advisory Committee
05 May 2020The IAP are looking for a pool of experts to provide science-based responses to the myriads of doubts and queries that have arisen, and will continue to arise, in many countries.
The current Covid-19 pandemic is not only a medical crisis but it affects all aspects of human life, from the economy to the environment, from education and research to primary education and no single expert or field of specialisation can provide clear simple responses to the many queries. Likewise, advice from experts in certain countries may not fit the on-the-ground situation in other countries.
Within the context of the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) mission of providing Science Advice, the IAP has decided to set up a pool of experts available and willing to provide science-based responses to the myriads of doubts and queries that have arisen, and will continue to arise, in many countries. For this ad hoc Advisory Committee, experts are sought in, amongst other topics, virology, epidemiology, critical care medicine, economics, urban health, civil engineering, mathematical modelling, psychology, social sciences, social determinants of health, ethics, science literacy, public health, infectious diseases pandemic research, data analytics and contact tracing networks/mobile software systems. Due to the diversity of fields needed to cover arising issues in a multidisciplinary way, it is expected that a group of approximately 50 experts will be convened and coordinated by a core group of 7-10 leads.
To express an interest in being nominated to this ad hoc Advisory Committee by the Royal Irish Academy, please send a supporting statement outlining your suitability, as well as a brief bio sketch and a list of you areas of expertise to policy@ria.ie by Wednesday 13 May 2020.
