The Grangegorman Histories Project presented a discussion on institutional experiences of pandemics. This focuses primarily on the “Spanish” Flu of 1918 – 20 and sheds light on the unique role of the pandemic in revealing specific societal weaknesses, as seen during the current crisis.

The event is moderated by Catriona Crowe, MRIA, and participants included Dr Cillian de Gascun, Dr Ida Milne, Luke O’Neill, MRIA and Fintan O’Toole, MRIA.

The Grangegorman Histories Project seeks, among other things, to collaborate with the Health Service Executive to open up historic health records for academic scholarship and for family research.
