Be sure to visit Grangegorman in the next few days to see the illustration unfold as the painters begin their work. The completed installation will remain in place for the next two years while the TU Dublin Academic Hub & Library is under construction.
This illustration, by Fidelma Slattery, responded to the vision and values of the Grangegorman Histories project. The artwork is part of the site’s Hoarding Strategy which aims to offer construction hoarding as a space for creative artwork during development. Based on reading the stories of the people who lived and worked on this site over the centuries and made by using details from the buildings you can see all around you on the campus it is designed to reflect the complex history of this place and the staff and patients who lived and worked here.
Grangegorman Histories is a project that provides opportunities to engage with the important work of uncovering, cataloguing and commemorating the eventful history of this site and the surrounding area. It is helping to raise awareness of the multi-faceted histories of the Grangegorman area by supporting the creation of an ambitious, wide-ranging and challenging programme to benefit local, national and international stakeholders. The project strives to ensure its activities are open to all.
