CONUL Erasmus Library Staff Mobility week, 24-28 June 2024
Read about the Library’s participation in the Consortium of National and University Libraries (CONUL) Erasmus programme.
The Library of the Royal Irish Academy was delighted to host visiting librarians from all over Europe, as part of the CONUL Erasmus Library Staff Mobility week at the end of June. This is the fifth year CONUL Erasmus has been running, and the second year the Library has been involved. The event is organised on behalf of all of the CONUL Libraries and supported by the CONUL Board. Library staff working in European universities or other research-orientated libraries came to Dublin for a week of networking, information sharing and culture. This year’s themes were Open Science; Creative Digital Content & Collections; New Technologies; Customer Experience/Information & Digital Literary Skills and finally, Space and Library Moves. The libraries that took part were TCD, TU Dublin, DCU, UCD, NLI, Maynooth and our own Library. The delegates first day was spent at the RIA were they were given a historical tour of the building by Ailbhe Rogers, Senior Executive Assistant, and enjoyed a game of picture bingo as an ice-breaker. Academy colleagues in the DRI and DIB talked to the delegates about their creation and use of digital content and collections, while Barbara McCormack, Academy Librarian, introduced them to the newly launched OS200 online resource.
