IHTA Heritage Week activities 2024

The IHTA will be involved in two events during Heritage Week. Howard Clarke will deliver a lecture on Cork’s history on 21 August and Angela Byrne will be involved in a number of Ballyshannon events on 23 August.

Cork

Howard Clarke, co-author of IHTA no. 31 Cork/Corcaigh, will give a lecture ‘From Finnbarr to Beauford: the making of Cork city’ on 21 August at 18:30 in Cork City Library, Grand Parade, Cork City.

It is free to attend and all are welcome.

Ballyshannon

Dr Angela Byrne, author of forthcoming IHTA, no. 32, Ballyshannon (2025) will be involved in a number of Heritage Week events, organised by Ballyshannon Regeneration Group, taking place in Ballyshannon on Friday 23 August 2024.

11:00 ‘History Paddle’ – where the Erne meets the Atlantic, it will be a unique way to learn about the Mall Quay’s history.

13:00 ‘Nautical Crafternoon’ – a family event where skilled craftspeople will talk through boat building, mending nets and tying flies.

18:30 ‘Ballyshannon’s Global Connections’ – Angela Byrne will give a walking tour along The Mall that will conclude at McIntyre’s Saloon where the exhibition she has curated will be launched.
