New DRI Member: Bailieborough Heritage Society
The Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) is delighted to announce that Bailieborough Heritage Society has joined as our latest member.
Bailieborough Heritage Society is a group of approximately sixteen likeminded people from diverse backgrounds working as a team with different skill sets and a common interest: conserving and preserving local history relating to East Cavan.
Each member of the Bailieborough Heritage Society makes a valuable contribution to the society while encouraging and motivating each other. The society prides themselves on being fun loving, easy company – as well as practical, creative, proactive, inventive and capable people who attend monthly meetings; or as many as needed for planning of events and ongoing projects.
Carmel O’Callaghan, Chairperson of Bailieborough Heritage Society said:
“As chairperson of Bailieborough Heritage Society, I am pleased to announce our membership of the Digital Repository of Ireland.
We are privileged to have acquired a collection of newsletters published by Mr Peter McConnell a native of Bailieborough. These contain a vast selection of interesting articles and photographs of great interest that he compiled during his 1990’s and 2000’s. These relate to Bailieborough and the surrounding areas of East Cavan.
Our DRI membership will ensure that this collection and other items we have gathered will be preserved and maintained for future generations to access and appreciate.”
DRI Director Dr. Lisa Griffith added:
“We are delighted that Bailieborough Heritage Society have become the newest member of DRI.
They join a growing number of history and heritage societies that are committing to providing access and long-term preservation for their archival collections through membership of DRI.
We look forward to working with all in Bailieborough Heritage Society to assist in the preservation of their collections relating to East Cavan and beyond.”
