Authors’ Highlights: Irish Historic Towns Atlas Cork/Corcaigh by Howard Clarke MRIA
Co-author, Howard Clarke shows nine maps, illustrations and views of Cork city taken from IHTA no. 31 Cork/Corcaigh. These include text maps that show the development of monastic and medieval Cork and later transport systems of the city; an early manuscript map and a seventeenth-century military map; nineteenth-century Ordnance Survey maps; and an early photograph of Patrick Street.
Irish Historic Towns Atlas no. 31 Cork/Corcaigh by Howard Clarke and Máire Ní Laoi, published by the Royal Irish Academy and in association with Cork City Council in 2024.
The evening marked the combined launch by the Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr Dan Boyle, of the printed and digital collections for IHTA Cork/Corcaigh.
